AnnaOtta’s fourth release, HabNoa, is a dance album featuring two remixes of their previous songs along with other original pieces. The duo brings their succulent electronic beats and hyperpop-infused melodies into the EDM spirit, blending humor with abstraction in a memorable sonic journey.
All the sounds originate from live-processed vocals, giving HabNoa its unique character—a peculiar mixture of electronic and biotic textures, much like its predecessors What if and This wasn’t real.
HABNOA captures a moment of surrender for the duo, when they let go of fear and ego, giving themselves fully to the music. It’s a celebration of unpredictability and the freedom that comes from embracing the unknown while pushing against the grain of gender and beauty conventions.
The songs were recorded in one take during various improvised sessions in Madrid in November 2023. They were later edited, produced, and mixed by AnnaOtta, with mastering by Jannis Bentler.
Bio
"Control is an illusion. Embrace serendipity and treasure the mistakes for they will save us from a boring existence”
AnnaOtta is a European musical duo of electronic, improvised music formed in 2018 by singers Irene Novoa (ESP) and Jenny Thiele (DE). The music crafts an innovative soundscape where every element—from beats to harmonies—is created exclusively from their voices.
With an arsenal of loops, live sampling, and effects, Novoa and Thiele transform their vocalisation into intricate synths, creating an unforgettable sonic experience. This vocal alchemy sets AnnaOtta apart, delivering an original and deep sound.
Beyond music, AnnaOtta is on a mission to challenge gender norms and offer a fresh perspective on beauty and femininity. By embracing imperfections and pushing the limits of technology, they produce bold, extreme sounds that defy conventional expectations.
Their music thrives on spontaneity, with songs and lyrics emerging from improvisation guided by non-traditional graphic scores. This approach results in a rich blend of sound textures and polyrhythms, both delicate and dynamic.
AnnaOtta invites the audience into that space of the unknown, where every note is a leap and every moment is alive with the possibility of falling or flying.

" [...] This requires listeners who are open to the experimental, who can open up and understand the duo's fun in the creation of the new foreign. Anyone who likes or can do that will get a colourful, multi-faceted album that is really exciting and intellectually demanding in every respect.”
Julian Callejo, spanish music critic
“…it is coherent, quite colourful, slow and disconcerting. Here the listener is not in charge, who in the best of cases can decide to relax and let go of the handles [...] It's very comforting, as silly as it is to find labels, to recognize the sound of Fever Ray at a certain point.”
